Brewster Windows

Product Overview:

Brewster windows is a special end face structure used in external cavity gas lasers, which is designed to reduce the reflection loss of the glass windows at both ends. This window structure places the glass (or quartz) at a certain angle to the optical axis so that the incident angle of the laser beam is equal to the Brewster angle.

Features:

• High transmittance: At the Brewster Angle, P-polarized light can pass through the window plate completely with almost no reflection loss. This is very important for improving laser efficiency.

• Polarization selectivity: Brewster Windows naturally only allow light in a specific polarization direction to pass through, making them an effective way to achieve laser polarization control.

• Reducing reflection loss: By utilizing Brewster angles, reflection loss in optical systems can be significantly reduced, especially in laser resonators.

Applications:

1. Laser system

• Laser resonator: Brewster Windows are often used in laser resonators to make the polarization state of laser radiation usually p-polarized. This is because P-polarized light has almost no reflection loss at the Brewster Angle, while S-polarized light is partially reflected. This characteristic can effectively control the polarization direction of the laser and ensure its efficient output.

• Laser protective cover: Using Brewster Windows in the casing of laser equipment can reduce the energy loss of the laser beam when it passes through the window, while maintaining the polarization characteristics of the beam

2. Optical Modulator
